Job Summary:

As an experienced Diesel Mechanic Technician at Penske, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the safety and reliability of our customers' vehicles. Utilizing your expertise in truck and trailer maintenance, you'll perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet, ensuring they remain in optimal condition for the road. As a respected lead Diesel Mechanic Technician, you'll set an example for others, mentor less experienced team members, and contribute to the overall success of our operations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.
  • Conduct repairs and troubleshooting of major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including replacing complete assemblies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Utilize Penske's tools and technologies for logging, researching, and completing repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
  • Continuously learn and develop new skills through Penske's Diesel Mechanic Technician training programs.
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • 6 years of practical experience in truck and tractor-trailer maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in using all tools of the trade, including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver’s license required, CDL preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Willingness to work in non-climate-controlled conditions and travel within the district as necessary.
  • Basic computer skills.
